New release: ‘Brew Law 101’ by Candace L. Moon
Congratulations to Candace L. Moon and Stacey Allura Hostetter of the Craft Beer Attorney law firm on the release of their new book, Brew Law 101, California Edition. This volume covers what craft brewers need to know about the law and includes useful checklists to keep track of the many details. Another great feature is the “From the Trenches” spreads, in which craft brewers themselves give their perspectives on what works and what mistakes to avoid when starting in this business. Their stories really bring the technical information to life. The book also includes a comprehensive index and glossary.
The Twin Cities have a booming craft beer industry, of which Doug and Nat partake regularly, so we were delighted to be invited to help with this project. (Paula has tried and tried to like beer and unfortunately just hasn’t taken to it. But don’t give up on her! She loves almost every hard cider that’s ever been made and favors local watering hole Sociable Cider Werks.) Doug and Paula handled editorial and indexing, and Nat Case of InCase LLC did the interior design and layout as well as producing a fixed-layout ebook. We coordinated with graphic designer Rudy Pollorena Jr., well-known in the California craft brewery world, who did the cover and interior graphics. The print version of this book differs from most in using a comb binding that will allow users to add pages when the authors issue updates as laws change. Nat designed the book to accommodate the binding as well as to allow plenty of white space for the book’s readers to write notes.
